Integrating Noviship with Shopify to provide account based shipping rates and automatic shipment creation for orders
Currently we use Private Shopify Apps to integrate with customer stores. Some information will be required from the shop owner to configure Noviship.
Overview
A Shopify shop owner can integrate with the shipping system to improve the customer experience and to optimise the fulfillment process.
The are three components to integration with Shopify:
Carrier Calculated Shipping for the customer's shopping basket.
Automatic creation of shipments to match paid orders
Automatic fulfillment of shopify orders when shipments are submitted to carriers
Carrier Calculated Shipping
Carrier Calculated Shipping (CCS) requires the Advanced Shopify Plan
With this component, the customer will be presented with shipment options to choose from with a price determined by rating the shopping basket as a Noviship shipment with direct carrier pricing.
This is an optional component. Without this, shop owners can still provide pricing based on shop rules or Canada Post.
Shopify rating does not transmit dimensions for items in the shopping cart, just the individual weights. To more accurately estimate shipping costs the shop operator should set the product weight to represent the shipping weight (i.e. the greater of the actual or approximate dimensional weight).
Shipments from orders
With this component, when a customer pays for an order a corresponding shipment (with the customer's address and shopping cart details) will be created in the vendor's Noviship account. Order numbers are displayed and are searchable in the customer's Noviship interface.
Automatic Fulfillment
With this component, once a shipment is submitted to a carrier and a waybill is ready, the order can be marked as fulfilled in Shopify and the tracking number addeded (visible to the customer
